New City
We are a church committed to the gospel of Jesus Christ as good news for our neighborhoods, the city of South Bend, and the world.
The Bible begins with a garden (Gen 1-3), but it ends with a city (Rev 21).
In the midst of the cities of the world, God plants his own city - the local church: an outpost of heavenly citizens (Phil. 3.20), united by 'one Lord, one faith, and one baptism' (Eph. 4.5), gathering for worship and then sent out in mission.
That mission is to disciple the nations (Mt. 28.18-20). The church is God's city, planted in the midst of the cities of the world, working to renew them.
​​All of them, including South Bend.
At New City, you'll encounter a high view of the gospel and a deep view of the church. The gospel isn’t just something we believe (though it’s definitely that!) but then move beyond. It’s God’s power for salvation to those who believe. It’s how Jesus reshapes and reorders and renews our loves and our lives from top to bottom.
The church isn't anything less than the adopted family of God the Father (1 John 3.1), the body of His Son Jesus (1 Cor. 12), which is made alive by the Spirit (1 Cor. 12). If you want Jesus, connection to the local church isn't an optional extra. The church is where you'll find Him.
And the name of the city from that time on shall be, The Lord Is There. Ezk. 48.35
